City Year, a program that encourage high school grads to take a gap year to volunteer in high-poverty schools, needed a site redesign that would work harder at recruiting participants. Putting off college for a year is a big decision, so, we created a bold, friendly experience that allowed prospective corps members to hear personal anecdotes from those that came before them.

corps member VOICE ANECDOTES

With a staggering amount of past and current corps members willing to say something in support of the program, and no budget to create video testimonials, we built a system that allowed audio tidbits to be embedded throughout site.

Corps members could record audio themselves, and anywhere users saw the headphone icon, they could hear personal context to whatever they're reading about.
